Attempts On Her Life

In this experimental reimagining of Martin Crimp’s Attempts on Her Life (1997), identities collide, unravel, and reform as reality fractures into shifting possibilities of who “Anne” might be – a terrorist, a car, a celebrity, a shadow, an empty outline in the narrative.

Space pulses with abrupt transformations: cloth becomes mountain, becomes memory, becomes chaos. Scenes bleed into one another, characters slip fluidly between personas, and the performance oscillates between becoming and unbecoming.

Staged in the Lier Theatre in Pretoria, the work unfolds across an intimate, shape-shifting environment where scenography, gesture, and sound blur into each other. Devised through an experimental, improvisation-driven process, each performance emerges as a unique constellation of images, ruptures, and reassembled identities – a gallery, a sacred land, a moment of destruction, a blur suspended in time.
